This Brought In $710,000 In 28 Days…

Recently we tested a brand new marketing
idea, basically doing the polar opposite
of what everybody else is doing online…

Results were mind blowing to say the least:

First 28 days = over $710,000 net profit

First 2.5 months = almost $1.2 Million!

Right now this pulls $12,485 per DAY on average.

And it wasn’t a “launch” of any kind…

No JV partners.

No affiliates.

Heck, we didn’t even have a website or our
own product…

And we spent exactly $0 on marketing!

Interested in finding out how we did this?

Why A Man Shouldn't Fall In Love

Love. Perhaps the most powerful of all emotions, it's an intoxicant like no other. We all strive for it in our lifetime, and we wan to share it with a special woman who will return it and make us feel wonderful.

The desire to experience love can be so overwhelming, that often times men RUSH into it, only to be hurt later on.

A study done in the 1980s revealed that 90% of all relationships are ended by women. This means that 90% of men who've been in relationships have, at one time or another, had their hearts broken.

And when this happens, it can be a painful, gut-wrenching process. Anyone who's ever been dumped can tell you this.

Because of that, many men try and safeguard themselves by shutting down emotionally. They can still feel attraction and lust for women, but their hearts are always guarded to try and keep themselves from experiencing that hurt of being dumped again.

Women love to complain that men are never "in touch" with their feelings, and that they tend to be "emotionally distant" in relationships. But when a guy is trying to keep from getting hurt, it's pretty hard to open themselves up to their partner.

So this presents us with a problem.

Falling in love too quickly opens yourself up to the possibility of being hurt. But never allowing yourself to experience love for your partner can sabotage your relationships.

So what's a guy to do?

The answer to this is to keep your guard up early on, and then after the relationship is established, allow yourself to open up.

If being hurt frightens you, understand that you might, eventually, become so paralyzed by it that you miss out on the joy of being in love. And you'll miss out on a great treasure that life has to offer.

Men need to allow themselves to be open to their partners.

The problems really start when a man does this too EARLY though.

They meet a girl they like, they begin to imagine being with her, get themselves all worked up about actually believing they are "in love" - even before they've gone on the first date!

Then, the girl gets weirded out because she is no where near as familiar witht he idea of being "in love" with the guy, as he is with her, and she REJECTS him.

And then the guy gets hurt, and becomes miserable.

To avoid this situation, you have to learn the process of creating trust and comfort around women BEFORE you allow yourself to fall in love with them.

You can like a girl as much as you want, but you must keep reminding yourself not to get too attached until she's proven she feels the same way about you.

Keeping a girl at arm's distance early on helps you to screen her. It helps you see if she's the type of person YOU really want to be with.

It helps to guard your emotions so you don't get hurt. But more than that, it gives you the time needed to start forming genuine bonds and emotional connections with the girl.

Once those emotional connections begin to form and strengthen, the girl will begin to open up to you. At this point, you can allow yourself to open up to her as well, and give yourself permission to fall in love if the girl is the one for you.

Is there a risk you might still get hurt and rejected? Sure. That risk will ALWAYS be there.

You lessen the risk by easing into the situation, coupled with doing the necessary work it takes to create a strong relationship. It's far better than rushing in and pronouncing how much you love the woman, I can guarantee.

Remember - the key isn't that you SHOULDN'T fall in love. It's that you shouldn't fall in love too soon!

Going About Dating Swedish Men

Dating Swedish men will require you to have a deeper understanding of the kind of people they really are. Is there really knowing people? Anyway, we will just go by the experiences of women who have crossed paths with some Swedes. First and foremost, it is extremely vital to know where you can meet Swede boys for fun and dating. Dating Swedish men will not cost you an arm; they are available everywhere. In the United States and other countries of the world, Swedes will be found undertaking their education, working, taking holidays and the list goes on. If you really open your eyes, you will come across great men from Sweden who will definitely not disappoint you. To your surprise, you expect Swedes to be shy but, many Swedish men on campuses and elsewhere have been spotted flirting with girls and even making sure that they get their phone number.

Dating Swedish men will therefore not be as hard as you imagine. An average Swede will have no problems approaching no matter who you are. Perhaps you will be keener on their accent but they will be wondering what accent you are talking about. If you are in Sweden, perhaps you need to look at a few of their ways and know exactly how to get yourself recognized as you seek to date a Swede. They are a very interesting lot who are interested in having fun and making the most out of what they have. Dating Swedish men does not demand that you carry on that funny way of talking. You simply have to be yourself and showcase what you are all about. In the process of dating, it is not about the Swedish ma,; it is about both of you. If you are American let your talks swing to American for a moment and not just one side. This is a good way to spice up your dating experience. If you are nervous, you should be. The best way to deal with it is to look for the lighter side of things as you relate. The best thing is to laugh about both your cultures.

Dating Swedish men are fond of making a brave face when they are disintegrating inside. As a Swedish man dating a woman from a different culture, you do not have to suffer in silence, make it known that you are crippled with fear and make it light as you date. Join courage to do all you can to make the dating experience a good one and a pleasurable one. You should always make sure that respect for a woman is the first thing you do. As a Swede, you are brought up to show respect and this will not be difficult for you at all. Looking for venues to have dates should not be an uphill task, take your date to common places where she would feel as part of society. No one is looking to be treated differently and, this is the way to go.

Adult Online Dating: Why Pay When You Can Get it For Free?

So you want to find a date. Perhaps even meet a woman or man for an intimate encounter. It's virtually impossible to make the proper connection in a bar or at a club. So you find yourself clicking your way through websites online. Welcome to the world of adult online dating.

But whether you're new to the adult side of the web or you're a seasoned visitor, you've probably asked yourself, "Why pay for a dating membership when I can surf sites like MySpace for free? I mean come on. You simply create a profile on the site to "find friends" and within minutes, you have twenty friend requests from drop dead gorgeous men and women.

Sounds like heaven doesn't it? If you need even more of a selection to choose from, you just have to type in an age, gender, sexual orientation, and a zip code and you are on your way to pages full of members. All for free!

But wait...what happens when you take a closer look at the men and women who appear to be interested in an intimate encounter? A particular woman may look promising at first. You find yourself looking at her provocative picture, imagining what she must be like in person and reveling at how photogenic she is. You click through her profile, getting excited and choosing "more pictures" to see just how beautiful she really is.

But lo and behold, there's only one picture. And tons of links to other websites promising more pictures of her in even more provocative clothing, if any. Whew! However, when you click one of the links and a porn website pops up requesting your credit card number, you realize the woman doesn't even exist.

No date for you, my friend - unless you want to get friendly with your computer monitor.

When Free isn't Better

Unfortunately, the gorgeous, provocative women of MySpace are either professionals who aren't looking for dates and are sick of the hundreds of men messaging them on MySpace, or they're fake profiles created by webmasters from adult sites. These fake profiles are used to lure us to their porno websites hoping we'll take streaming video in lieu of a personal encounter.

And can we really blame them? It's a free advertising venue for them. But that doesn't change the fact that you're left empty handed. Or worse, you're not left empty handed...and that's not what you had planned for the evening.

You Get What You Pay For - If You Want an Intimate Encounter, Use an Adult Dating Website

If it's free, you're likely to come up with zilch. Nada. No go. Besides, a monthly membership at an adult dating website costs less than dinner and a movie for a single date. Wouldn't you rather skip the formalities? You can if you use a site where the people you're looking at are looking for no frills, get-to-the-point intimate encounters.

So instead of using Myspace and dealing with a webmaster scam or all the dating hoopla, pay a small fee and join a website that specializes in adult online dating. It is extremely easy to create a profile and you will be looking at hundreds of men and women who want nothing more than a randy evening with YOU.

Guarantee a Legitimate Encounter

Another great thing about using an adult dating website is that the singles on the site are legitimate. In fact many sites guarantee that there are no fraudulent profiles. So go ahead, take a few minutes and see how true adult dating beats the pants off of free sites like MySpace.

Singles Groups for christian Singles

Finding it hard to meet other singles in your area. Why not try a singles group? There are many reasons why a person may benefit from joining a Christian singles group.

Top 5 Reasons to Attend Christian Singles Groups

Christian singles groups provide a place to belong.

In order to be healthy and enjoy life to the max, people need to feel wanted and needed. They need to have a feeling of belonging. As the Cheers TV theme song relays: "Be glad there's one place in the world to call home, a place where everybody knows your name, and they're so glad you came."

Although there are some great positives for having online fellowships, nothing quite takes the place of face to face contact. In Christian singles groups and support groups, you can meet people in your immediate area who share similar circumstances (single parents, separated, divorced, widowed, college and career aged, etc.), and feel wanted and understood.

Christian singles groups offer encouragement.

Hey, we all need encouragement and a warm hug at times. Well, the dynamic of Christian singles small groups creates a place where you can find comfort in your times of need. There will also be excellent opportunities to minister to other single men and woman who need help.

Christian singles groups provide a non-threatening place to learn about God and the Bible.

The accepting and laid-back setting of a Christian singles group forms a great place to ask questions and grow spiritually without feeling judged or out of place. For example, I personally experienced this facet about Christian singles groups when I attended the Alpha Course.

Attending Christian Singles Groups is a great way to meet new friends.

If you attend Christian singles groups on a regular basis, you will develop positive, intimate and godly relationships with all types of singles. It's also an awesome environment to gain better understanding of yourself and others-especially the opposite sex :)

Christian singles groups are just plain fun.

Singles groups are a great alternative to the hollow bar and club hopping scene that leaves many feeling empty and unfulfilled. Many Christian singles groups offer a wide variety of activities that will keep your interest.

Online Dating: 13 Tips To Write A Winning Online Profile And Attract A Date

How long do you spend getting ready for a night out? At a guess I would say that if you're a woman you can probably spend 1 hour upwards preening and titivating and if you're a man you can be showered, shaved and out of the door within 20 minutes (unless, of course, you're a metro-sexual in which case you probably take longer than a woman!).

Now let me ask you how long you would spend (or have spent) writing a profile for an online dating site? Less than 5 minutes, possibly 10 minutes maximum?

When you consider that you literally have minutes to impress someone and stand out from the rest in the online dating scene, don't you agree that more time and effort should be put into writing an online profile?

If you are an online dater, I'm sure you will agree with me that when you are searching for a partner online you will first of all look at the profiles with photos and, secondly, you will look at the profiles where people have taken the time to write something about themselves. So if you have no photo and/or an incomplete and uninformative profile, don't be surprised if you inbox isn't full to the brim with messages!

I'm going to share a few tips with you to get you started writing an eye-catching profile. Once you've read them take some time to think about what you are going to write and jot down some quick notes before hitting the keyboard.

  1. Grab a friend

If you don't like writing about yourself or think you are going to get writer's block it's a good idea to enlist the help of a friend; the kind of friend who is always saying to you "I can't understand why you're still single, you're such a catch". Ask your friend what your star qualities are and he or she will come up with a million and one positive things about you which you would have never thought of or dared to say about yourself.

  2. Strike a pose

The most effective way to get noticed online, is to include a photo. Choose a clear photo that shows in your best light and preferably smiling - it makes much better viewing!

  3. Choose a fun username

This is the name which you will be known as by members on the dating site. I would advise you to use a name other than your real name to remain anonymous. Try and choose a name that is fun and reflects your personality, i.e. Sporty Sam or Disco Queen. Do not use a name which is sexually provocative or offensive.

  4. Captivate your audience

Make your profile really stand out so that any person reading it will think "Wow, I have to get to know this person!"

online dating sites have made it easy for you when completing your profile by providing drop down menus for basic questions such as your appearance, lifestyle, hobbies but you will also be given additional space to write something yourself. Use this space wisely to provide a more detailed description about your personality, your interests and what you are looking for. The key is to be confident and talk positively about yourself without coming across bigheaded.

  5. Don't leave an empty space

If you feel you have covered everything by answering the profile questions – please do not leave the additional space blank or write "ask me", "tell you later" or "I don't know what to say". Members will see your profile and think you're either not serious about dating or that if you can't be bothered to put some effort into writing a profile you will have the same approach in a relationship – effortless! Instead extend on the information already provided, for example, if you have stated you like travelling talk about some of the places you have visited.

  6. Ask questions

If there is a particular place you visited and fell in love with, ask anyone who has been there to get in touch with you so you can reminisce together. Asking a question in your profile makes it easy for other members to respond to.

  7. Be Honest

Don't lie about interests; you will get found out! For example, don't say you love long walks in the countryside if you really like to dance the night away in nightclubs every weekend. You'll attract the wrong person and waste both of your time.

As with any other kind of dating, it is always best to be honest from the start so answer all questions honestly and finding your perfect match will be much easier!

  8. Show your funny side

I think if you can make someone laugh or someone makes you laugh, you're on the path to a good relationship. Show people that you have a sense of humour, e.g. talk about a scene from one of your all time favourite comedies and you may strike a chord with someone else who found the same thing just as funny as you.

  9. Dream a little

Write about your dreams and ambitions. If your dream is to travel the world but you haven't quite got round to it there may be someone out there who would like to share this experience with you. If you've been lucky enough to fulfil your dreams, share your story with other members.

  10. Don't mention the ex!

Ok, so you may have just come out of a relationship and be feeling sad and lonely but don't write about it. It will put a lot of people off and you may come across desperate, which is not an attractive trait. Make online dating a new start for you and promise yourself not to dwell on past relationships.

  11. Your expectations

What are your expectations from joining an online dating site? Tell people the kind of relationship you are hoping to find but don't say you are looking for marriage if you are really looking for a casual fling and vice versa. Again, you will waste both of your time.

  12. Write a chapter, not a book

By this I mean, don't tell your whole life story in your profile. I encourage you to provide as much information as possible about yourself but use short bursts of information, sectioned by paragraphs, rather than writing a long essay so whoever is reading it is intrigued to find out more about you.

  13. Be safe

Finally, do not include any personal information in your profile, e.g. your e-mail address, home address, work address or telephone number. A reputable dating site will remove any personal information before it appears live on site; this is to ensure that they provide you with a safe online dating environment.

  14. Once you've completed your profile, read through it or ask a trusted friend to read through it and ask, would you reply to this person? If yes, it's all systems go. If no, look at the areas where it can be improved until you've created that winning profile. It may take longer than 5 or 10 minutes but the results that will show in your inbox will be worth it!

The World According to Designer Handbags 101

There's a new kid on the block in the wonderful, wacky world of designer handbags. In case you haven't heard, World According to Jess is taking the fashion accessories industry by storm. But don't let the amateurish name fool you, this design house is taking no prisoners! In a relatively short period of time, this company has achieved immense respect and credibility in the industry. Jessica Alpert-Goldman, namesake and owner of World According to Jess, has firmly entrenched herself in an industry that is not always kind to outsiders.

The designs are bold, quirky, and cute…much like Jess herself. With an impressive catalogue of designs, and the support of her ever-growing legion of fans, 2006 may just be the year of Jess. Without a doubt, she is off to a smashing start. Her bags have already been photographed with famous fashionistas like Beyonce Knowles, Sarah Jessica-Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Lindsey Lohan.

Just recently, Jess had her remarkable designs included in the celebrity grab-bag backstage at the Oscars. This is, by all means, no small feat. Every major company in every significant niche wants their product included in the Oscar gift bag. The mere act of having your product photographed with major Hollywood stars is a guarantee for overnight success but Jess is already well ahead of the game, in that regard.

Jess contributed 250 of her favorite purses to the Oscar cause, and she hasn't looked back. In her own words, "I worked hard to let the world know that World According to Jess was the only bag designer included in the official Oscar gift bag." For her efforts, she received countless press accolades and ended up with placements on some of the biggest television programs in America, including The Today Show.

World According to Jess has fun, funky handbags in countless shapes and sizes. Evening bags, cosmetic bags, wallets, diaper bags, travel bags…it appears that Jess has covered all of the bases. Some of my personal favorites include the smashing Arthack and the oh-so-hot Scandalous designs. If these designs are any indication of things to come, World According to Jess is going to be more like world domination. Ciao, Darlings!

Dating Tips: What NOT to wear when meeting men

A quick internet search will quickly bring up loads of advice on what to wear when meeting a guy for the first time. However, there is very little guidance on what not to wear if you want to make a good first impression. In terms of appearance, women are typically less picky than men, placing a greater importance on personality, even in a first meeting. Unfortunately, the reverse is not true, and men tend to use attractiveness to gage whether they would like to spend more time with you.

The good news is that 'attraction' for men is not as cut and dry as we once thought it was. True, it is largely based on appearance, but it is not as simple as 'big boobs, nice booty.' Surprising to some, men actually observe more than you think. Conscious of it or not, men notice and respond to aspects of appearance that indicate further facets of personality.

Making a good impression when meeting someone for the first time ' be it a first date, a speed dating event, or a night on the town ' is crucial. Instruction on what to wear, though helpful, may handicap your own personal creativity and style. However instruction on what not to wear will only ensure you don't make the wrong impression, still allowing you to express your true self as you wish.

DON'T wear the following on your next first meeting, so ensure you don't accidentally turn away suitors:

DON'T wear a lot of junk in your hair. Hair ranks as one of the greatest attractors for men ' when you get it right. When you get it wrong, it's an instant turn off. Hair is attractive because it is very sensual (as in, good to touch) and men often imagine running their hands through your hair, touching it, or tucking it behind your ear. If you have a lot of product or accessories in your hair, it prevents them from having that fantasy, and they cannot imagine putting their fingers through your hair. If they can't visualize it, it's not going to happen. Don't put junk in your hair.

DON'T wear a lot of make-up. This one doesn't need a lot of explanation. Of course, make sure you look good, but overdoing it with make up isn't going to help you. It may position yourself as 'simulated' or unreal (not in the good sense,) and most men admit they see it as a sign of a high-maintenance woman ' a definite no-no. Don't gunk on the make-up.

DON'T wear a complicated outfit. Like with hair, and most other things, men are highly visual creatures. Just as they enjoy imagining what it would be like to run their hands through your hair, they likewise imagine ' you guessed it ' undressing you. Don't take it the wrong way, it doesn't necessarily mean it's their immediate and only goal, it's just how it works. So if you are wearing a complicated outfit it makes it more difficult for them to imagine what it would be like to undress you. We've all seen how clumsily men handle a simple bra clasp'a complicated, multi-piece outfit is almost more than their imaginations can handle. Keep it simple, DON'T wear an intricate outfit.

He Doesn't Call - Should I Call Him? Dating Advice For Women

Calling a new man in your life is tricky business. As always, when you first start dating someone you are not sure if the person shares your feelings. You don't want to come off too strong and too fast. But what if the new man in your life perceives you as not interested in him if you don't call him at all and always wait for him to call first? And what to do if the man you've just started dating sends you a text message? Should I call him or text him back, you ask. Should I always wait for him to initiate contact with me or should I go ahead and let him know that I am interested in seeing him?

Some men like to receive some sort of a signal from a woman that would give him the green light to call her. One too many times I hear from women, great date but he doesn't call. What does it mean? The date went great, he had a fantastic time, laughed a lot; we kissed then he said, I'll call you but doesn't call. It's been a week and I haven't heard from him. What does it mean? Does it mean he likes me? Or does it mean he is a player? Did he really like me and how can I tell if he really likes me or just likes me ok? Is there a way to tell if he'll call? And if so, when will he call?

The beginning stages of a relationship could put a woman through a turmoil not knowing whether the man likes her, and whether he will call and when. For that reason I have put together a very extensive article that deals with all kinds of questions women have about calling men in their lives, calling a new man, calling a man you've been dating for some time, and what does it mean when he stops calling. You can read my post What To Do If He Doesn't Call that hopefully will answer all of your questions concerning men and calling men in dating.

Dating Advice: Don't Sabotage a Special Relationship

You're dating a new guy, and you're crazy about him. You're feeling vulnerable, you definitely don't want to get hurt, so you call a few friends to analyze things he's said to get their perspective. Is this a good idea?

Not really.

While it's tempting to give friends an I-said-he-said account of your conversations with a new love, it's a big mistake. You destroy whatever intimacy that developed. If you want a special relationship, keep it special by keeping it between the two people it involves: Him and you.

(Discount this advice if this man has ever hit you or threatened you in any way. In that case, RUN FOR THE HILLS. Dial 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) for help!).

As for a normal new boyfriend, your friends do not know him any better than you do (unless they're his sisters, in which case you should definitely keep quiet about him).

Do not invite other people to speculate about your relationship. It's not their place, and it's none of their business. Trust yourself to make the right decision about whether or not he is the one for you.

Avoid asking questions like, "Do you think he likes me?" and "What do you think it meant when he...?" Use a man's actions to gauge his feelings for you. If you don't understand something he did or said, ask him about it. For instance, "You asked me to meet you at 6:30, but you didn't show up until 7:15. Was there a lot of traffic?"

See what he has to say for himself. Does he seem genuinely sorry, or does he pull the same stunt the next time? Respond accordingly.

Acknowledge your own feelings, always: Do you feel good around him? Confident? Attractive? Or do you feel insecure? Stupid? Fat and ugly? You know how you feel around someone who likes you, so seek your own counsel.

When you discuss your relationship with other people, you cheapen it. You undermine it, too, because you've made it subject to others' opinions. You've raised the stakes because if the relationship tanks, you might as well have taken out an ad in the New York Times.

Give your new relationship the dignity it deserves and keep it to yourself. Offer it care and attention. Trust yourself to let it develop as it should. If it's meant to be, you'll know it.

If it's not, you'll know it,too.

Advantages of Live-in Relationships Over Marriage

Marriage is an essential arrangement that ensures propagation of human race and prevents societies from degenerating into chaos. Marriages are crucial too for providing a safe place supervised by adults where the children can grow up into adults in a nurturing atmosphere.

Why has the institution of marriage been so successful? The answer is that it caters to a primal human need. Man is essentially a social animal. Life for us is a long journey full of challenges and problems. We do not want to wade through it alone, but crave for company and loyalty of another individual who will provide a shoulder to lean on and share some of our responsibilities. Thus, our ancestors created the institution of marriage in which two adults of opposite sex formally tie the knot in a socially and legally accepted and enduring bond that is meant to last an entire lifetime.

In the last few decades, though, this time-tested arrangement has come under threat. Unbelievable as it may sound, marriage has begun to lose its importance and sanctity. People today ask: “Do we need to get married at all when we can have everything that marriage offers without formally tying the knot?” There are many reasons for this. The most important one is secular education and scientific temperament of people which make them question everything, including age-old social mores and customs. Women have become independent socially and financially and see no problem in living alone. As a result, live-in relationships have become quite common.

Both marriages as well as live-in arrangements have their own pros and cons, but the scale is still somewhat tilted in favour of the former.

Live-In Relationships

These are today quite popular with the young crowd. The benefits of live-in relationship are many. The foremost among these is the freedom that you get. You do not surrender any rights or accept any obligations. The relationship lasts as long as both the partners are happy with each other. There is an attitude of “you scratch my back, I scratch yours and both of us enjoy while it lasts.”

After some years it is natural for the partners to get bored seeing the same face every morning. That is when the charm goes out of the relationship and one tends to look for a fresh relationship with some other individual. In a live-in relationship, that is no problem. You can any day just pack your bags and move out, leaving behind just a thank-you card.

There are absolutely no legal hassles, financial complications or complex negotiations for dividing assets and debts between the partners. The arrangement sounds like a dream come true. Live together, have physical relations, and move out when bored. What can be more convenient and gratifying? No wonder, live-in relationships are getting more popular than ever.

However, there is a flip side too. Such relationships lack commitment. When the chips are down, the arrangement usually breaks down. If the partners have children, the situation becomes more complex with respect to their custody and responsibility for upbringing. Since the relationship is informal, the two individuals do not have much stake in its continuity and whenever problems arise, they decide it is much easier to split rather than make efforts to solve them.

Marriages

The most important benefit of marriage is its social and legal recognition. The society recognises and respects the relationship and treats it as the only “proper” way for a man and woman to share a single roof and rear children. Marriage is protected by the law and both the partners have their clearly defined rights and obligations. If they want to split, there is a laid down procedure that has to be followed. There are strict provisions to take care of children’s upbringing in case of parental divorce.

Another substantial benefit marriage offers to the couple is emotional commitment and support. The partners demand loyalty and fidelity from each other. In return, they bare all their secrets to each other and share their finances to buy assets for the family. There is no other relationship that can match the emotional support, social recognition and legal rights that a marriage provides.

On the flip side, it takes a lot of money and effort to dissolve a marriage because it is a very formal and water-tight arrangement. One just cannot walk away lightly. Lawyers have to be paid, family assets and debt have to be equally divided and arrangements have to be made with respect to the children. Marriage does not offer personal freedom to partners as a live-in relationship does.

Where To Find Assistance For Single Moms

In order to survive as a single mother, one has to start building a network of support systems that cover housing, childcare, food, finances, education and more. The list of needs that a single parent has and her ability to pinpoint resources for her needs may mean the difference between stability and poverty. This article addresses the three basics of survival: housing, childcare, and food.

Housing

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has great information on their website on where to find assistance for single moms for locating housing assistance. It can range from vouchers, to first-time homebuyers programs, and Section 8's.

Other possibilities to help defray housing costs are organizations that pair up single mothers to co-house, or getting fuel or heating assistance from the local utility companies.

Child Care

By far, next to housing, childcare is the single biggest expenditure in a single mother's budget. Many single mothers rely on relatives to help with the childcare. The Department of Social Services has information on child care subsidies and child support enforcement.

For children in elementary schools, the school system sometimes offers after school programs. The YMCA also offers after school programs. If you work at a university and your child is older, they might qualify for a subsidized summer program being held there. There are a number of government and local programs to help provide assistance for single moms needing day care.

If you are working full-time at a company that has a dependent care flexible spending account, sign up. Allocate only the money that you know you will need for childcare expenses and no more. Any unclaimed money at the end of the year is lost. However, with careful management, one can save the same percentage on childcare as your tax rate allows. This can range from 10 to 28% of childcare costs and is a hefty benefit.

Food Programs

A single mother who is pregnant or with children under five may qualify for WIC (Women, Infant, Children), which is a program to give help in providing nutrition. There are income guidelines and the Department of Social Services may need to assess your nutritional risk to determine if you qualify for assistance for single moms.

Registering with the Department of Social Services would help one to also possibly obtain food stamps, which now come in the form of an Electronic Benefits Transfer card, similar to a debit card. This type of assistance for single moms can be invaluable in bridging the gap between making it or not.

Public schools all have meal programs that are need based. There is a national school lunch, breakfast, and special milk program. Schools will typically include guidelines and an application form when you are enrolling the child in school.

Food co-operatives will often let you buy food at a discounted price if you donate time with them. Another possibility is local food pantries and church initiatives.

Typically, the bulk of assistance for single moms falls into providing this daily necessity of food, shelter, and childcare. There are many options available, but it takes time and persistence to apply and obtain benefits.

Dating Tip: Keep Him Interested!

"Why isn't she with you?" "She left." "Why?" "There were so many reasons." "There were not so many reasons. There was only one. You made yourself too available."

-From JOURNEY TO IXTLAN: THE LESSONS OF DON JUAN by Carlos Castaneda.

The characters in the above scenario are men, but women often make themselves too available in relationships, as well. The consequences are usually disastrous.

Hey, we tell ourselves, I like the guy. He might be the one! Can't let him slip through my fingers! So, we stay home and wedge the last bit of peanut butter from the jar for dinner. Can't run out for real food and risk missing his call!

When he does call, we move heaven and earth to hang out with him. So what if we had plans to go out with friends on Friday night? Cancel! So what if we had a dentist appointment when he called at the last minute about having football tickets. Cancel! Hey, these things aren't important, right?

Wrong!

When you cancel prior agreements to be with a guy, you're pretty much canceling your life. Deep down, you don't feel good about it (your friends and dentist don't feel good about it, either). You're also telling the guy that you can't live without him.

And that lowers your stock.

Let's turn the tables: Would you really want some a guy who cancels plans with his friends to be with you? Who calls you three times a day? Who treats you like you're his one and only shot at happiness?

No, you wouldn't. Regardless of his education, salary, sense of humor, and great looks, you'd stop respecting him. Any attraction you once felt for him would die a quick and sudden death.

You'd dump him and look for a guy who has a life.

Now, don't misunderstand me. I don't advocate playing games. If a man calls you, you answer the phone. If he leaves a message, you call him back. But if he calls you at 7:30PM on Friday to go to a football game on Saturday, I'd think twice about it.

In other words, don't let yourself be taken for granted.

My mother told me of a rule she had when she was dating: She'd never say yes to a date for a weekend unless the guy asked her before Thursday. She explained that a man would figure she didn't have much going on if she didn't have plans by then. When she told me this, I thought it sounded contrived and stupid. But, as in most things, it turns out she was right.

Remember this: Everybody, man or woman, likes to win a prize. Being available, but not too-available, makes you a prize.

As time goes on and your relationship with a guy becomes serious, it's important to keep up your hobbies, continue to see your friends, and do all the things that make you who you are --things that don't necessarily include him.

It makes you attractive. What's more, you'll like yourself more for it. Women who like themselves are especially desirable, sexy, and fun to be around.

Be that woman.

Sex During Pregnancy

It is important that you nourish your relationship as much as your nourish your unborn child during pregnancy. Most women find that their bodies grow large and unwieldy during pregnancy. Many women are surprised to find that their sex drive actually increases during pregnancy, particularly during the second trimester. This is due to the increased amount of blood that is coursing through your pelvis and vagina.

Is Sex Safe During Pregnancy?

Sex is safe during pregnancy provided you have a low risk pregnancy with few complications. Your doctor will let you know if you should avoid sex for any reason at all. Most women can enjoy a healthy and fulfilling intimate relationship throughout their pregnancy, right up until their delivery date.

Will I Enjoy Sex During Pregnancy?

Surprisingly, many women find that they are more sexually aroused during their second trimester than they were prior to pregnancy. The increased blood flow to the vaginal and a woman’s growing bosom often results in a heightened sense of self and sexual arousal.

Most women will shy away from sexual relations during their first trimester when morning sickness and fatigue often get in the way of love making. During the third trimester, some women find themselves uncomfortably large and prefer not to be intimate, whereas others continue having intercourse right up until they go into labor.

Will Sex Hurt the Baby?

One of the most common concerns of fathers to be is that sex will hurt the baby. Some men are afraid that they will bump into the baby when they have sex. By and large however this concern is unfounded. If your husband is overly concerned about having sex during pregnancy, have him join you at your prenatal visits. A little reassurance from your physician that he will not hurt or bump into the baby may be all your husband needs.

Partners often react very individually when it comes to sex and pregnancy. While some men find the site of their wife’s blossoming body a true turn on, others are ambivalent or even a little turned off by pregnancy. It is important that you are open, honest and communicative with your partner about your needs during pregnancy, and try not to take any emotions your partner may be feeling personally.

Remember that pregnancy is often an emotional roller coaster, and your husband or partner may be more concerned that you might react differently, or may be scared of the idea of having a family in general. Some men have a difficult time being intimate with their wives even when they recognize that they will not harm the baby, because they feel another presence is in the room.

That said, many men and women have remarkable sexual relationships throughout their pregnancy. Even if you do not engage in intercourse with your husband, it is important that the two of you work on nurturing your relationship throughout your pregnancy. Foot rubs, kissing, back rubs and holding hands are all excellent ways to share some intimacy without actually engaging in intercourse.

The best way you can ensure that you and your partner remain close during your pregnancy is to check in with your partner on occasion. Inform them of your needs, let them know where you are coming from and what you need or want from them.

Positioning

If you and your partner are interested in maintaining a healthy sexual relationship during pregnancy, then undoubtedly you must be wondering what positions will work best for you as your belly grows and expands. The best thing you can do during your pregnancy is keep an open mind and be creative. Most women will find that it is uncomfortable to enjoy sex in a missionary position after about the first or mid second trimester. Try flipping over, woman on top and even lying next to one another during your pregnancy.

Dating, Drugs And Alcohol

Dear Daughter,

I love you so much. I wish that I could always protect you from all dangers, but I know that I can’t. You are growing up and you will have to face dangers and make some decisions on your own. However, I am always here and I can always be a pretty good coach. Please talk to me anytime about any problem you may have, even if you have messed up. I have messed up a few times myself.

I was thinking about my last letter on dating. I would like to continue those thoughts. As I think about the potential dangers to avoid, drugs and alcohol are at the top of the list.

The moment you learn that a boyfriend is using any type of illegal drug, begin choosing the location for the break up. Never let the relationship continue thinking that he will give up the drugs for you. I know this sounds cruel, but it is true. People who are using drugs will look you in the eye and convincingly lie about the drug use. The drug use actually alters their personality. They will lie and do things that they wouldn’t normally do.

When you break up with someone over drug use, it’s a little different situation. As described before, choose a semi-private but public location, such as a restaurant. Take your own transportation and enough one dollar bills to pay for whatever you order, if you are meeting in a restaurant.

Get straight to the issue. If you like him, tell him so. If he has some good points, compliment him. Then tell him that you cannot continue dating him because he uses drugs. Tell him that this is something you decided long ago and that you are sticking to it. If it is true, tell him that you still consider him to be a friend, but you will not date him.

He will try to minimize the drug use. He may say that he doesn’t use drugs that often, and that it’s no big deal, everyone does it. He may say that he can quit anytime he wants to quit. He may try to make you feel guilty for treating him so badly. Don’t believe any of this. Tell him that only he can decide what he wants to do, you wish him the best and that you hope, for his sake, he does decide to give up the drugs. Get up and leave.

In about a week or so he may call to tell you that he is off all drugs and doing great. Congratulate him and tell him that you will not consider dating him until he has been drug free for at least a year. He will then try to make you feel bad for being so unreasonable. He may even try to make you feel guilty for not helping him stay off drugs by continuing the relationship. Without you he may start using drugs again. Don’t buy any of this. Tell him that it is up to him to quit the drugs, not you. You are not responsible for his behavior. By the way, if you are thinking that everyone does some drugs so there is no one left to date, you are hanging around the wrong people.

While we are on the subject, do we need to talk about drug use? I don’t think that we do, but if we do, please, please, let’s talk. You need to know that there is a lot of false information out there, most of which comes from the people who are using the drugs. They make it sound really good. It’s not. I have seen many people lose their family, friends, their productive lifestyle, and sometimes their life, because the drug became number one in their life.

Do you know what upsets me the most? Not a single one of those people set out to destroy their life. I am certain that if these people had known what destruction lay ahead, they would have never taken that first drug that seemed so harmless. In reality, the most dangerous illegal drug is the first one taken. It seems so harmless in the beginning.

In spite of the seriousness of drug use there is a simple solution; simply don’t do it. Don’t take that first drug. No matter how harmless it may seem or how good other people make it sound, don’t do it. Make that decision now, before you find yourself faced with “friends” who are encouraging you to “just try it.” Make the decision now so that you will not have to decide when under pressure. There comes a time when you have to make some decisions about yourself. Make good decisions.

By the way, what would you do if you were with a group of friends and suddenly alcohol or an illegal drug turns up? You may be thinking “Don’t take it.” That’s a good answer, but you must do more in this situation. You must leave the group immediately. If the individual with the drugs or alcohol is caught and arrested, the whole group will be arrested. It is important that you choose wisely when it comes to friends. I will have more to say about this in a future letter.

Let me also mention a few things about alcohol. Alcohol is probably the most dangerous drug available in terms of destruction to individuals and families. The reason it is so destructive is because it is legal, socially accepted and readily available.

For those who have trouble with alcohol, the onset of problems is slow and not even noticeable to the victim. Victims of both drug and alcohol dependence often have their world falling apart all around them, and they are in total denial of the problem and the consequences.

You are under age. It is illegal for you to drink alcohol. This makes my advice simple for now. Don’t do it. It’s that simple. No doubt you will find yourself at a party and there will be alcohol present. Don’t do it, leave immediately. It’s illegal and you could be arrested.

When you become an adult and are living on your own, you will have to decide what you will do about alcohol. Some people can drink socially and never have a problem with alcohol abuse or dependence. Other people begin with social drinking and the use slowly increases until it becomes abuse with the entire range of social, and eventually, physical problems. Which group are you in? I don’t know either.

I want you to know that there is a danger involved. To avoid the danger, the best thing to do is choose to not drink alcohol. This is the safest route and the one that I recommend to you.

As far as dating someone who is using alcohol, it is similar to the drug issue. You are under age. If your date brings alcohol around you, he is putting you in danger. You could be arrested. He is being irresponsible and this is your cue to plan the break up. What if he is older and is of legal age to use alcohol? It doesn’t matter. He is still endangering you. Plan the break up.

What will you do later on, when you are of legal age to drink alcohol, and your boyfriend drinks alcohol? This is not a black and white situation. If you have chosen the safe route and you do not drink alcohol, you may have decided that you will only date people who, like you, do not drink alcohol. If so, this simplifies things.

On the other hand, if you wish to continue dating the person, there may or may not be danger. As discussed earlier, some people have trouble with alcohol and some don’t. If the relationship becomes serious, discuss your concerns with him. If you have a good relationship, an in-depth discussion should not be a problem. Remember that you always have access to professional drug and alcohol counselors who can help you evaluate your situation. Be sure you are comfortable with the situation up front rather than after the marriage.

Newbie's Guide to Science Fiction and Fantasy and Genre Conventions

A very large number of people who have never attended a Sci-Fi convention have the idea that they are all about people standing in line to get autographs of actors while wearing Klingon makeup and costumes or pointed ears. I'm not saying that those stereotypes don't exist, but the Convention experience is much richer and diverse than you may have been led to believe. To get the best experience it is important first consider your interests and then match them to what conventions are available.

Conventions come in two primary flavors: professional and fan run. Professional conventions should have actors who have appeared in genre television and films ready to sign autographs and have their photos taken with fans. Some of these conventions include the costs of autographs and photo sessions in the cost of admission others operate in more of an a la carte fashion.

Often genre conventions have previews of new shows and films, and usually an extensive dealer's room where you can buy anything from jewelry, ornaments, t-shirts and action figures to full scale replicas and costumes... and more. While there are a number of professional promoters, the best known and run are Chiller Theatre Expo, Creation Entertainment, Fed Con (Germany), Starland and Vulcon. Do expect things to be as advertised and run on time. Do not expect warm and fuzzy.

Warm and fuzzy is more the field of fan run conventions. Fans who get together to run conventions have a great deal of enthusiasm, but usually are run with a volunteer staff and can be a bit "bumpy" with organization of the activities.

What you can expect? A movie room, anime room, gaming room, art show, dealer's room, and various special interest group rooms and tables. It is a rare con that doesn't have a dance and a masquerade.

Many fan run conventions also have guests ranging from actors, authors, cartoonists, illustrators, scientists etc. You may also find workshops for writing, acting, art, costuming, make-up and special effects. It all varies from convention to convention and year to year. Older fan run conventions such as Aggie Con, Balticon, Bay Con, CONvergence, Dragon Con, ICON, Shore Leave, United Fan Con, Toronto Trek to name a few.

The following sections may help you in selecting the kind of convention you would enjoy the most. Don't be afraid to try other sorts once you've sampled those that are in your comfort zone. Exploration can be fun:

* LITERARY CONVENTIONS

Love to read speculative fiction? Do you have an interest in attending workshops on writing and publishing? Would you like to mingle with like-minded fans and meet professionals in the field such as authors, editors, illustrators and publishers? Then a literary convention would be the place you might enjoy most.

Conventions such as World Science Fiction Convention (which is where the Hugo awards are announced), the World Fantasy Convention, World Horror Convention, Balticon, Philcon, Lunacon, Boskone, Readercon, Wiscon and Capclave are all reader friendly and while you may find the occasional filking group, men in kilts, swords and women in medieval garb, I doubt that you'll see many people dressed like the attendees of the convention seen in the movie Galaxy Quest. OK maybe one or two, but they are a tiny minority.

* MEDIA CONVENTIONS

Media conventions are very much about television and film. Science Fiction and Fantasy or Horror and Paranormal guests abound. You may meet and hear behind the scenes stories of actors and illustrators, SFX experts and make-up artists and a host of media professionals. Many of the attendees may be wearing costumes. Depending on whether you are going to a "pro" con or a "fan run" con the rest will vary greatly.

Parties are expected and encouraged. At a pro convention this will take the form of a banquet with the guests at a fee and/or a dance or cocktail party all for various prices. Fan run conventions may also have a price attached to a banquet or "private" gathering with a particular celebrity or celebrities, but they will also have fee free dances, masquerades, art shows, filking, sword demonstrations etc. Toronto Trek, Celebration, BotCon, Dragon Con, Comic-Con (both Dragon Con and Comicon will appear under many categories).

* GAMING CONVENTIONS

Gamers come in all shapes, sizes, ages, colors and ethnic backgrounds, but they all have something in common. A love of games.

Role playing, live, pen and paper, MMOG as well as video gamers and board gamers all have a lot of interactive fun at gaming conventions. You can meet game designers, try out new games that have yet to hit the general market, and play in tournaments for glory and prizes. Once an almost male-only pursuit, gaming now has a growing number of female enthusiasts. Gaming has become so pervasive that it is now nearly socially acceptable to the mainstream public. Nearly.

There are giant conventions like GENCON and ORIGINS, where it is so crowded you may have trouble negotiating the exhibition halls due to the crowds. The upside is the great diversity and FREEBIES as there are so many gaming companies competing for your attention. Then there are the more intimate play intensive ones like Archon, CastleCon, Dragonflight Dreikonigsnacht (Twelfth Night), Festival of Dreams, HexaCon, KublaCon, MACE, MarsCon, Marmalade Dog, ShaunCon, Strategicon, The Once and Future Con, and many many more.

Keep in mind that many conventions other than pure gaming conventions have gaming tracks. If you like to game but want to do more than only game during the weekend you might look into some of the other cons with a strong gaming element.

* ANIME CONVENTIONS

For the older generation anime seems so foreign, even unreachable. It shouldn't be.

Yes, anime and its siblings manga and ahem [cough] hentai are of Japanese origin, but the striking visual styles and beauty, the characters and stories, connect with westerners as well as with audiences in the east.

Because they are animations, they can either be sub-titled or dubbed in the language of the country where it is being broadcast. In anime the stars are the illustrators, authors, and voice actors.

At conventions you will find many of these sorts of guests as well as companies promoting their projects. You will also find some of the most imaginative of costumes created and worn by fans.

At larger conventions you may find multiple rooms running films day and night. At smaller ones perhaps just one room will be devoted to showing their favorites.

There are often panels discussing aspects of cosplay, fan fiction, video games, favorite voice actors, anime series or movies. As in literary conventions there are often workshops. These workshops are mostly how to draw manga, make computer animation, or how to become a voice actor. The dealers room will be filled with DVDs, software, graphic novel manga, art books, apparel, toys and exotic (for us) foods.

While the U.S. and Canada have the largest SF conventions in the world, the largest Anime conventions are Lucca Comics and Games in Lucca Italy (85,000), Japan Expo in Paris France (83,000), Salon del Manga in Barcelona Spain (63,000), and Romics in Rome Italy (50,000). The big guys in North America are Anime Expo Los Angeles California (41,000), Otakon Baltimore Maryland (23,000), and A-Kon Dallas Texas (14,500). Hey, size isn't everything and some of the smallest might be the way to start if you have never been to a con before!!

* HORROR CONVENTIONS

What a perfect place to let it all hang out (dating myself but who cares).

Horror conventions revel in going over the top. Long live Elvira, Freddy Krueger, Jason, Dracula, Zacherley, Even the names of these conventions and expos are meant to be graphic illustrations of what you will find there. Chiller Theatre, Fangoria, Fright Night Film and Fantasy Fest, HorrorFind, HorrorHound Weekend, Spooky Empire. Nothing to subtle here. No sparing of the gore.

It's like the rollercoaster of genre conventions. If you have a strong stomach and a dark sense of humor, you will have tons of fun.

The dealer's room, art show, video rooms all are in sync with the horror theme. Guests that reach back decades up to the present. Once again there is a chance to meet actors, artists and authors for autographs, photo shoots, and anecdotes.

Attendees go wild with costumes and you can do so too, even without a ton of money or a pile of cash. Try out your best monsterish clothes and make-up or come as a victim... or not. Costumes aren't required, they are just fun.

There is usually a monster mash even if that isn't the name given. Some horror conventions invite guests that more about nostalgia than horror. Chiller Con is a good example of this. Some of their guests are Micky Dolenz from the Monkees, Ernest Borgnine , Lindsay Wagner, Brigitte Nielson, Katey Sagal (Married with Children), Stephen Baldwin, Daniel Baldwin, Barry Bostwick, Erin Murphy (Tabitha of Bewitched), Avery Brooks, Armin Shimmerman, Robert Picardo, Geri Reischel (Jan from The Brady Bunch), Susan Olsen (Cindy from The Brady Bunch),Joe Pantoliano,Richard Kiel ("Jaws" Moonraker), Lou Ferrigno, William B Davies (X-Files-Cancer Man), Stella Stevens, Frank Stallone, Ron Bumblefoot (Guns N Roses) and a host of others.

* COMIC CONVENTION

When you think of a comic book convention you will probably think of a sea of old comic books, toys, Star Wars stuff, Star Trek stuff, action figures, collectible card games and magazines for sale and you would be right, but that is only a part and an increasingly small part of the experience.

You will find illustrators, authors, publishers and very often interesting workshops and panels that deal with every aspect of the industry past, present and future. There are the costume contingents that always show up at the larger conventions and some are so good that you could almost believe you were seeing superheroes and villains walk out of the pages and off the screen to meet you and be photographed.

Some cons such as Dragon Con and Comic-Con began solely as comic conventions but grew to tremendous size, scope and diversity that they have transcended the genre that gave rise to them. Even those such as HEROES which remains focused on comics, manages to have a number of other aspects and should be able to keep the whole family amused for the weekend.

Comic conventions often have a lot of pop culture and nostalgia guests. So if you would like to see people like Creature, Parthenon and Fat Mama from Who wants to be a Superhero or maybe even Stan Lee himself, you might get your chance. How about James and Oliver Phelps who played the Weasley Twins in the Harry Potter movies? Or perhaps Sean Astin or Billy Boyd and even Elijah Wood. From Heroes Hayden Paniterre and Masi Oka, or Ice-T... yes I said Ice-T AND his swimsuit-model wife Coco.

For a walk down memory lane there is Erik Estrada, Betsy Palmer, Soupy Sales, Richard Hatch, John Saxon, Adam West and Burt Ward (Batman and Robin) , Julie Newmar, Peter Mayhew, Eddie Byrnes (77 Sunset Strip), Erin Gray (Buck Rodgers), Gary Coleman, Lou Ferrigno and on and on. Some are from your childhood others are from your parents childhoods. I can tell you that when I unexpectedly got to meet the very ladylike and gracious Betsy Palmer, it was a thrill.

The bottom line is conventions are places where adults can go and play and slough off the average workday week. Have fun !!
